Former Youth of the Year, Hope Newman, Wins a Statewide Challenge that Helps her Pursue her Dreams
Hope Newman is one go-getting teenager. She won the Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County’s Youth of the Year award back in 2013. She is a part-time Boys & Girls Club Junior Staff member who helps guide and mentor the kids, and is very active in the community. Recently, Hope won a first place DECA award in the state of Idaho for her start-up business proposal involving an ice arena, because one of her true passions in life is hockey.
Hope is inspiring to everyone around her because she is one of the most tenacious and kind people you’ll ever meet.
She stated, “My future goals are to take what DECA, the Club, friends, and family have taught me and not only open up my own business, but also be active in Clubs and share my passion of motivational speaking with the world!”
That’s no small task, but she is definitely up for the challenge! Hope didn’t receive her first place award lightly either. She has been active for three years in DECA and that has accumulated into hundreds of hours of hard work. Staff members at the Boys & Girls Club are so proud of Hope because they can see how dedicated she is to goal setting in all aspects of her life.
