Volunteer Story - Dayna Drager

Which room(s) do you volunteer in, and how long have you been volunteering with us?

I have been volunteering in the Teen Center since the end of November.

Why did you decide to volunteer with the Boys & Girls Club?

Since I graduated from college, I began looking for an opportunity to volunteer in the community and give back aside from my job. I am from Coeur d' Alene and I played basketball in college. I originally was looking for somewhere to coach, but when the Teen Center needed a female volunteer it worked perfectly!

What do you most enjoy about volunteering in the Club?

What I enjoy most about volunteering at the Club is just building relationships with the teens in a relaxed environment and getting to know them over a game of pool, Scrabble, or even a game of 1-on-1. I have been to one Teen Night so far which was very entertaining with all of the crazy activities. I hope to help more during future Teen Nights.

What do you do when you’re not volunteering here?

When I am not volunteering at the Club, I work for an orthopedic surgeon. I am currently training for the CDA Ironman 70.3 so have been running, biking, and swimming most of the time. I also enjoy reading, wakeboarding in the summer, scuba diving, and playing the piano. I am currently applying to graduate programs..

Got a story for us?

We are looking for more stories from Volunteers, Donors, Parents, Kids, Teens, Club Alumni, and Board Members about experiences at the Boys & Girls Club. Please contact scook@northidahobgc.org for more info.
